My name's Raymond, I've worked with ScottishPower for the past five years now. I'm a Jointer to trade, based in Glasgow. Each and every day there is different people without power. It could mean that I'll be working anywhere throughout the length and breadth of Scotland. So that's what I find quite interesting, the fact that each and every single day is completely different.
I've been well supported by ScottishPower. I've only recently completed my apprenticeship, and now that I'm finally trained there's many opportunities within ScottishPower to further my career.
The reason I'd say to apply for ScottishPower and work through the apprenticeship scheme was the fact it's an international company, and the fact they're such a big player in the field. There's many different aspects to my job, but the thing I probably found most enjoyable was a trip to journey. We took part in an energy seminar, and through this I met people from different backgrounds, different countries, in all sorts of different trades.
I've only recently completed my apprenticeship, and this is just basically my career starting. There's many programmes in place within ScottishPower that I can either move up the ladder within Scotland, or the fact that it's now an international company I could perhaps work abroad, and that's an opportunity you don't get anywhere else.
A lot of my friends ask me why I work for ScottishPower, and that's due to the fact that it's a good company to work for, they're obviously a big company, and you've got job security, which is important, and it's always every day's different.
