My name is Mairi. I'm a Resourcing Consultant based at Dealain House in Cumbernauld, which is near Glasgow. I recognised the ScottishPower brand and wanted to work for a large organisation with the people in the heart of that organisation. I had heard that there was great career opportunities at ScottishPower, and fabulous training opportunities.
I worked for a large financial organisation in Glasgow in various training roles before moving to ScottishPower as a management development consultant, looking after the training needs of the management population. I then moved into a design role, writing courses for staff across ScottishPower, and I'm currently a Resourcing Consultant, looking after the attraction and selection of staff across the company.
I work with a wide range of people across ScottishPower, working across all the business areas. This allows me to learn new things, really, every day's a school day for me at the moment, and it's really good.
I have a flexible work contract at ScottishPower, allowing me to work three days a week and spend time at home with the family, so I have a fantastic work/life balance.
Since starting with ScottishPower 4 years ago, my career has progressed and I've changed role three times while working three days a week.
I would recommend ScottishPower to a friend because as part of a large international energy company there's career progression and development opportunities if you want them; there's family friendly benefits to give a good work/life balance and, finally, the people, you spend a lot of time at work, so I think it's key that you're part of a people organisation.
