My name is Alistair. I'm the Cable and Overhead Line Manager based in central Scotland. The things that attracted me to ScottishPower were the technical challenge of operating an LV to 400,000 volts transmission and distribution network. I also thought that ScottishPower was a very progressive company to work for, and also to develop my career as a Chartered Engineer, the number of opportunities within ScottishPower was wide.
I enjoy living and working in central Scotland, however, within the ScottishPower context we get the opportunity to travel throughout the UK and Europe. I particularly enjoy the graduate recruitment process which I'm heavily involved in, and seeing the opportunities that graduates take to move onto more senior positions.
I've been well supported in my career with ScottishPower through on the job training, support from colleagues and individuals, encouragement from the company to continue my professional development, whether it be through membership of the IET and obviously on-going chartered status.
I would recommend ScottishPower to a friend, because it gives you the opportunity to develop your career to the maximum within an international context. We give you excellent ownership and responsibility from the outset, and significant formalised training and support.
