Providing high quality services to our customers

The engine room of ScottishPower, our Operations Team is responsible for ensuring that everything adds up through accurate billing and meter reading. Many of our people enjoy office based clerical roles, whilst others are out and about visiting customers to read metres or making the most of their technical skills as they install and maintain them.

Our responsibilities

Customer Establishment Team (Cathcart)

An office-based team, we’re the entry point to ScottishPower’s billing system for domestic and small business customers. Taking a new contract generated by our sales team, we create new accounts, contact customers and migrate their details from other suppliers, or builders, in the case of new homes.

Agency Services & Metering Team (Yoker, Glasgow & Warrington)

One of the largest departments in Operations, we provide meter reading and meter installation services to our customers across Scotland, Merseyside, the North West and North Wales. We also deliver meter-reading services to other utility companies who have customers in our region and manage meter reading agencies who read meters for customers outside of our core area. Our other support services include cleaning and refurbishing meters and investigating cases of meter tampering.

Domestic & Small Business Billing Team (Cathcart)

An office-based team, we generate and send out accurate and timely bills to domestic and small business customers across the UK. Passionate about exceeding customer expectations, we maintain and update client information on our billing systems and support our contact centres with any billing enquiries.

Industrial & Commercial Team (Yoker, Glasgow)

We focus on registering and servicing the accounts of large energy customers who typically need bespoke energy tariffs tailored to their usage trends and requirements. The team is a mix of technical specialists with metering knowledge and office staff who have a good understanding of billing systems.

Major challenges

Ensuring the accuracy of information in a constantly changing environment is vital to our future success. However our most exciting challenge in the future will be moving over to a new fully integrated system for billing and customer accounts.
