Hear about how we work from some of our employees.

We’re responsible for the design, operation and maintenance of an electricity transmission and distribution network that ensures continuity of power supply to our customers. We’re involved in a diverse range of activities such as designing new High Voltage Electrical Networks, ensuring the safe operation of High Voltage Transmission and maintaining Transmission and Distribution Assets such as cables, substations, transmission towers and network pillars. Other challenges include developing investment plans and managing contractors and sub contractors.
You could be a Trainee Engineer, a Chartered Engineer or be in an industrial role such as a Linesperson, Jointer or Fitter. Most importantly, you’ll be able to provide innovative solutions to engineering challenges. A good communicator and team player, you should also have qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
At ScottishPower you can expect a variety of career paths. You can expect good opportunities to advance your career and possibly reach Chartered status. And as we continue to invest in our network, you can expect unique technical challenges. For example, we’re the only Network Operator to have Transmission and Distribution assets at low voltage to 400 KV. As Energy Networks is a regulated business, our performance is measured against set criteria. So, you’ll enjoy continually developing your skills to ensure the highest quality standards.
