Our vision is to always be the 'First Choice for Powerful People Development' for our customers. And it’s our mission to increase the effectiveness of the organisation by developing the capability of our people. Passionate about ensuring that our people have the right skills and experience to perform at their best, both now and in the future, we provide first-class training and development to not only ScottishPower businesses, but also external organisations and contractors.
Strategic Resourcing and Organisational Development are key functions within the team. By focusing on our longer-term capability requirements, we ensure that our people have the skills they need to support the delivery of our Strategic Plan.
Technical & Operational Training is another strong area of expertise. Through shaping and delivering a range of training programmes, we provide a unique opportunity for people to increase their personal competencies by developing their skills and knowledge whilst gaining invaluable practical experience. Many of these programmes lead to the achievement of recognised qualifications.
Our team within ScottishPower Learning works closely with young people in our communities to bridge the links between education and employers and promote careers within the energy and utility sector. To date, we’ve helped to support over 100,000 people and train more 12,000 young people within our communities. At the same time, we provide excellent development opportunities for many of our employees.
Ensuring that thousands of people across many specialist teams have the most up-to-date knowledge and skills – is not an easy challenge. But it’s one that we thrive on and enjoy as we help our colleagues to develop and progress their careers. During 2008 a training budget of £3.5 million led to more than 16,000 delegates attending in excess of 3,000 training events. The equivalent of over 31,000 training days.
We offer a wide range of career opportunities for training and development professionals at all levels.
We’ve Development Centres at Dealain House, Cumbernauld near Glasgow and Hoylake House in Merseyside. There may also be a requirement to work within the businesses at various locations throughout the UK.
