A career as a Cable Jointer

What would I do as a Cable Jointer?

Our Cable Jointers work primarily on the electrical underground cable network, installing and maintaining connections over a range of voltages to ensure that the electricity supply meets customer needs and the network maintains our high quality standards. Your role would involve connecting cables to the system as well as faultfinding and repairing problems which may have developed through age or damage. Some trainees will also assist with jointing across gas and water networks.

What are the most enjoyable aspects of the role?

The opportunity to learn new skills working alongside a qualified Cable Jointer as part of a friendly and professional team. You’ll also enjoy working outside and playing a key role in helping to supply energy to thousands of homes and businesses.

What skills would I need?

Well organised with a practical approach and the ability to solve problems and work on your own initiative, you’ll also need to be flexible, self-motivated and a good team player.
