Application hints and tips

To ensure that you get the best out of the application process and create a good first impression, we recommend that you read these helpful hints and tips before completing and submitting your online application.

  1. Make sure that you’ve got all the information you need to complete your application form.
  2. Set aside plenty of time to complete your application, as it can take more time than you may think.
  3. It’s a good idea to compose your answers in advance on Word on your computer as this allows you to check your spelling and grammar before transferring information on to the online application form. You should also save this document, as you may have to refer to it later in the application process.
  4. All communication regarding the outcome of your application will be via email from our Recruitment Team. You should provide an email address for an account, which you’re able to maintain and check regularly.
  5. Please turn off pop-up blockers and enable cookies when applying online on our website.
  6. Download (pdf, 325kb) our guide to applying for an advertised role.

All successful candidates will undergo pre-employment suitability screening - read more about this here (pdf, 34kb).

Please also refer to our checklist for your eligibility to work in the UK (pdf, 45kb).

Positive about disabled people logo

As a Disability symbol user we make 5 commitments:

To interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for a job vacancy and consider them on their abilities.

To make every effort when employees become disabled to make sure they stay in employment.

To ensure there is a mechanism in place to discuss, at any time, but at least once a year, with disabled employees what they can do to make sure they can develop and use their abilities.

To take action to ensure that all employees develop the appropriate level of disability awareness needed to make your commitments work.

Each year, to review the five commitments and what has been achieved, to plan ways to improve on them and let employees and Jobcentre Plus know about progress and future plans.
