Energy Networks

We own, manage and take responsibility for ScottishPower’s electricity transmission and distribution network. We primarily operate in a regulated environment with targets set by the UK regulator, Ofgem. Our business includes Core Utility Solutions Limited which is a multi-utility provider, offering the simultaneous connection of gas, electricity, water and telecoms, typically completing 40,000 connections in the UK per year.

Energy Wholesale

Focused on delivering competitive energy across a wide portfolio, the range and scale of our activities includes:

Generation: Operating and maintaining our generating portfolio, our physical assets include coal, gas and hydro-electric power stations, as well as our Daldowie facility near Glasgow which manufactures fuel pellets from waste.

Energy Management: Responsible for the wholesale trading of power, gas, coal and other commodities, we schedule generating plant and work with our Energy Retail business to set gas and electricity tariffs.

Commercial Development: We identify and develop value enhancing opportunities for the business, including bespoke energy contracts and asset acquisitions and developments.

Energy Retail

Supplying gas and electricity to over 5 million customers across the UK, we’ve an impressive track record of customer retention and product innovation. We manage pricing, selling, metering, billing, customer service and cash collection for gas and electricity supply to both business and domestic customers.

Corporate Business

The main aim of the Corporate business is to support the other ScottishPower businesses. It comprises a variety of disciplines ranging from Information Technology, Finance, Human Resources, Purchasing and Risk Management to name but a few. These provide the common infrastructure to allow the other ScottishPower businesses to perform at their optimum level.
